Engineers Australia charges a fee for the migration skills assessment itself, with additional fees for fast-track processing, relevant skilled employment assessment, adding an occupation, and appeals. How Engineers Australia structures its fees
Engineers Australia charges per service, not per applicant. The services you may end up paying for are:
- Migration Skills Assessment — the core assessment of your qualification against a nominated occupation.
- Fast Track — a priority queue, charged as a premium on top of the standard fee.
- Relevant Skilled Employment Assessment (RSEA) — assesses how many years of your post-qualification employment count as skilled, which is what Home Affairs uses for employment points.
- Additional occupation — assessing a second ANZSCO code alongside the first.
- Review / appeal — a re-examination after a negative or unexpected outcome.
- Overseas PhD assessment — where a doctorate is being assessed for points purposes.

Is fast track worth paying for?
Fast track buys queue position, nothing else. It is worth it when a deadline is genuinely binding — an age bracket you are about to leave, an English test result about to expire, a state nomination round closing, or a partner's visa timeline. It is not worth it if your CDR is not yet strong: paying to be assessed sooner on a weak report just brings the negative outcome forward.
Spend on the report first, the queue second. A rejected fast-track assessment costs you both fees and a resubmission.
Protecting the money you have already spent
Assessment fees are not refunded if the outcome is negative. That makes a pre-submission CDR review one of the highest-return items in the whole budget — it costs a fraction of a resubmission cycle and catches the plagiarism, competency-coverage and paragraph-referencing failures that cause most negatives.
