Quick answer

What is cdr report writing?

A Competency Demonstration Report is the document Engineers Australia uses to assess overseas-qualified engineers who cannot claim an accredited or accord-recognised qualification. It contains three career episodes, a summary statement mapping every Stage 1 competency element, a CPD list and a three-page CV.

Who needs a CDR

You need a CDR if your engineering qualification was not awarded by an Australian accredited programme, and is not covered by the Washington, Sydney or Dublin Accords within the relevant recognition period. For most engineers from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Egypt, Nigeria, the Philippines and much of Latin America, that is the default position.

It is also the pathway if your degree is from an accord country but was awarded before that body joined, or if the specific programme you completed was not itself accredited. Check the pathway rules before assuming.

What actually causes CDR rejections

Engineers Australia does not publish rejection statistics, but the pattern in reports brought to us for rescue is consistent:

  • Plagiarism. Sample CDRs circulate widely and are all in the assessor's text-matching database. A match can attract a ban of up to twelve months.
  • "We" instead of "I". Competency is awarded to a person, not a project team.
  • Project description, not engineering evidence. Three episodes that explain what the project was and never what the applicant calculated, chose or decided.
  • Competency gaps. Elements — usually PE2.3 design and PE1.4 research — with no supporting paragraph anywhere.
  • Broken paragraph references. A summary statement pointing at paragraphs that do not demonstrate the element claimed.

Every one of these is preventable at the planning stage, which is why we build the competency map before drafting rather than after.

How we write, and what we will not do

Your report is written by an engineer who holds a degree in your discipline. We do not use general academic writers, and we do not template three episodes and swap the nouns. The technical interview exists because the engineering detail that satisfies an assessor is not in your CV — it is in your memory of the decisions you made.

What we will not do: invent projects, inflate your role, write episodes for work you did not perform, or reuse text from a previous client's report. Every report is written from scratch and scanned before hand-over. If your project history genuinely cannot support a CDR at the category you need, we tell you at the consultation stage rather than take the fee.

Timeline

Delivery runs from the technical interview to your first full draft, with revisions after that. The standard tier is 15 days, with 10-day and 7-day tiers available. Allowing time for revisions, most clients on the 10-day tier are ready to submit inside three weeks.

Pricing

The delivery tiers are identical in scope — same deliverables, same plagiarism report, same unlimited revisions — so a shorter turnaround buys queue position, not more work. The named package differs in scope; ask what it includes.

How it works

  1. 1

    Free consultation

We confirm your ANZSCO code, occupational category and assessment pathway before any money changes hands. If a CDR is not what you need, we say so.

  2. 2

    Project selection

A qualified engineer in your discipline reviews your CV and project history and selects the three projects that give the strongest, non-overlapping competency coverage.

  3. 3

    Technical interview

A 45–60 minute call in which your writer extracts the engineering detail — calculations, standards, decisions — that turns a project description into evidence.

  4. 4

    Drafting

Episodes are drafted in your voice, in the first person, in numbered paragraphs, with the competency map built alongside them rather than bolted on afterwards.

  5. 5

    Review and revision

You review each episode. We revise until it is accurate and reads as yours. There is no cap on revisions and no per-round fee.

  6. 6

    Compliance check and hand-over

A second engineer checks MSA booklet compliance, competency coverage and paragraph referencing, then runs the plagiarism scan before hand-over.

CDR Report Writing — frequently asked questions

How much does CDR report writing cost?

Our complete CDR is AUD 649 all-inclusive — three career episodes, summary statement, CPD list, CV, plagiarism report and unlimited revisions. There are no per-revision charges and no add-on fees.

Is using a CDR writing service allowed by Engineers Australia?

Engineers Australia requires the report to be your own work describing your own engineering experience. Professional assistance with structure, language and competency mapping is widely used; what is prohibited is submitting someone else's projects or copied text. Every report we write is based on your own project history, verified with you before submission.

How long does it take to write a CDR?

Fifteen days on the standard tier from the technical interview to a complete first draft, with 10-day and 7-day tiers available. Revisions follow the first draft and are unlimited at every tier.

What if my CDR is rejected?

If Engineers Australia raises a competency or content issue with a report we wrote, we revise and resubmit at no charge. Our reports carry a plagiarism report and a compliance check specifically to remove the causes of rejection before submission.

Do you write CDRs for all engineering disciplines?

Yes — civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, electronics, chemical, mining, petroleum, environmental, biomedical, aeronautical, industrial, production, telecommunications, engineering technologist and engineering associate occupations, plus Engineering Manager.

Not sure your CDR is ready to submit?

Send it to us. A qualified engineer in your discipline reviews it against the MSA booklet and the Stage 1 competencies, runs a plagiarism scan, and tells you plainly what to fix — before you pay a non-refundable assessment fee.
