What is cpd writing?

CPD for a CDR vs CPD for chartered status
These are different asks. For a CDR, the CPD list is supporting evidence — a reasonable, dated record demonstrating currency. There is no minimum hour requirement attached to the migration assessment itself.
For chartered status and NER registration, Engineers Australia applies a defined CPD requirement over a rolling period, with minimums in specified areas including risk management, business and management competencies, and practice-area content. If chartership is on your horizon, start recording CPD in that format now — reconstructing five years of it later is painful.
If your CPD record is thin
Many engineers under-record. Before concluding you have nothing, check: internal safety and technical training, software training, standards you studied for a project, toolbox talks you presented, graduates you mentored, industry webinars, and technical papers you read for a specific design decision. Most engineers find two to three years of legitimate CPD they simply never wrote down.

Yes. The MSA booklet requires a CPD list as part of a complete Competency Demonstration Report, alongside the three career episodes, summary statement and CV.
How many CPD hours does Engineers Australia require?

What format should the CPD list be in?

Yes. Reading standards, journals and technical literature is a recognised CPD category. Record what you studied, when, for how long, and why it was relevant.
